Team Selene for Hellespont Dardanelles Swimming
Since I have decided to put meaning behind my swimming by supporting Save the Children , I completed Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swimming last summer. Thank you for all your support!
This summer, on August 30th, I'm gearing up for a significant challenge-the Hellespont Dardanelles Race, the world's oldest cross-continental swim from Europe to Asia in Turkey. W hat makes this event even more special is that my niece, Yaprak, will be swimming alongside me. The Hellespont, steeped in ancient Greek myth, is the strait that Leander famously crossed to reach his lover Hero. It's a race that has been celebrated since Lord Byron's historic swim in 1810, and it's the ultimate test for open-water swimmers.
For over a century, Save the Children has been dedicated to ensuring that no young child dies from preventable causes, that every child receives a quality basic education, and that violence against children is eradicated. The organization strives to create a world where every child can have a bright future.
Yaprak and I are proud to make our swimming on August 30th matter for kids across the world. Please support our efforts by donating today!
