Many people worldwide suffer from mental illnesses. It is one of the most underfunded areas of health in both our country and globally. After the past year of the Coronavirus pandemic, many children especially have suffered from trauma, isolation and loss.
We want to be part of a community of supporters who help children get the mental health support they need everywhere, including here in the U.S.
Communites in conflict-affected regions critically require mental health and psychosocial support services, with the World Health Organization finding that 1 in 5 individuals living in conflict have mental health disorders.
"Today 426 million of the world's children currently live in areas affected by conflict. It is not enough to treat only their physical wounds," said Save the Children President and CEO Janti Soeripto. "Helping children cope, heal and thrive is essential to supporting the resilience and well-being of the next generationl, which is why we are thrilled to welcome this critical legislative effort to advance U.S. foreign assistance on mental health."
For over 100 years, Save the Children has done whatever it takes to create a world where no young child dies from preventable causes, all children learn from a quality basic education, and violence against children is not tolerated. Where every child has the best chance for a bright future. Please join me by supporting my page today!
