We are just two college students, who decided to do something about all of the pain and suffering around the world. It has been clear to us that we are very sensitive to the injustices that are occurring all around the globe, and we finally decided to stop complaining and take action. We truly believe that everyone can make a change if they really want to.
To this day, Yemen remains the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. Yemen has been facing six years of armed conflict which has led to the deaths of 18,400 civilians. Yemen is also experiencing the world’s worst food security crisis as nearly two-thirds of 20.1 million people have been requiring food assistance since the beginning of 2020. (Human Rights Watch)
“Roughly 80 percent of Yemen’s population required humanitarian aid, including over 12 million children. UNICEF warned that the number of children under the age of 5 who suffer from acute malnutrition could rise to 2.4 million in 2020. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reported in October 2019 that 50 percent of Yemeni children are experiencing irreversible stunted growth. UNICEF warned in June that 7.8 million children had no access to education following Covid-19-related school closures and nearly 10 million did not have adequate access to water and sanitation.” (Human Rights Watch)
Unfortunately, there are many more horrible events in Yemen like sexual assault and rape of internally displaced women, blocking and impeding humanitarian access, arbitrary detentions, torture, enforced disappearances, and more. I encourage you to watch it and spread awareness!
One recommendation I have to anyone who may be reading this right now; if you want to take action, and you have the resources to be able to, do it now! If not, there is a high chance you will forget you ever were on our page. Simply just how our minds tend to work. :)
