I ran the NYC half marathon two years ago and it was by far one of the coolest and most fun half marathons I have ever ran. But this time around I thought it would be more meaningful to run for a charity that I believed in and stood behind. I am so excited to announce I will be joining Team Save the Children for the New York City Half Marathon! After interning at Save the Children this past fall I have seen all the hard work that they do and how passionate everyone who works there is and I guess you could say I fell in love with their mission of reaching every last child especially the most vulnerable children. I felt like this was a great way that I personally could give back and hopefully expose more people to the work Save the Children is doing not only abroad, but right here in America.
Running has always been something I have really enjoyed since running cross country in high school. It is one of those sports that anyone can take part in and it doesn't take much to get starter and start running. I think one of the greatest things about running is that isn't something just a few well off people can engage in and be apart of, it spans socieconomic status. And like, Public Health People?
For nearly 100 years, Save the Children has done whatever it takes to create a world where no young child dies from a preventable cause, all children learn from a quality basic education, and violence against children is not tolerated. Where every child has the best chance for a bright future. I'm proud to make my 13.1 miles matter for kids across the world and right here at home. Please support me in any way you can, with any amount you can. By helping me, you are helping the kids. I promise to send everyone a hand written thank you and take plenty of pictures.
