Team "Who run the world"
Hello gender equality champions!
On October 12th, in honor of International Day of the Girl, join me as I walk with Save the Children and members of the NYC community to help Bridge the Gap for Girls across the globe.
Gender equality is absolutely essential for global peace, prosperity, and the achievement of human rights for all. And that means addressing harmful gender norms right from the beginning – in childhood.
Girls in particular are frequently invisible in policies and programs, their needs invisible and their voices silenced. Girls are twice as likely to never step foot in a classroom, more likely to eat less and last when food is scarce, and are at increased risk for multiple forms of gender-based violence – including child marriage, female-genital mutilation, rape and other forms of sexual violence, exploitation and assault, trafficking, and sexual harassment.
Listening to girls’ experiences and priorities is crucial – as is ensuring they receive all the support they need to grow healthy, educated, and safe.
Join Save the Children and me in taking action for girls – either in person or virtually!
Commit to joining my team – spreading the word and walking with us! Or walk wherever you are in solidarity.
I hope to see you there!!! 😊
